Q: How much does it cost to take part?

This is a free program for schools sponsored by Universities, organisations and individuals who share our passion for education and equality. As part of the recruitment process, we recruit schools and sponsors simultaneously and then match them up based on their location.

Q: When does the project start and how long does it run for?

A: This year’s program will run from October to December. Each school will receive its Starter Pack in late September and is welcome to launch on whichever date suits you best.

Q: How is the project delivered?

This an 8 x 1-hour virtual workshop program which you can run on whichever day and time suits you best and in whichever format you prefer. This can be as an in-class activity for all your pupils or a weekly lunchtime or after-school club for a group of specially selected students - it’s entirely up to you. We’ve designed the course so that it can be tailored to your individual school and pupil requirements and delivered in bite-size sessions. Our team will be on hand to help at every step of the way and determine the best approach for you and your team.

Q: What’s included in the curriculum?

  • Week 1: Naming your business

  • Week 2: Designing your business logo

  • Week 3 - 6: Creating your marketing materials and preparing for your launch.

  • Week 7: Sales masterclass

  • Week 8: The launch

Q: Where will the launch take place and who will we be selling our bags to?

This depends on the individual school. In some cases, their pop up shop is at their school as part of their annual Christmas fair while in others, it’s hosted by their sponsor as part of a special event that we help organise. Another option is via our website. Once you sign up we will organise a 1-1 call to talk through your options and decide the best approach for your school.

Q: Our school has never done anything like this before. How will we know what to do?

We will provide everything you need to deliver the programme in your Starter Pack. This will include your team’s tote bag collection along with all the necessary PowerPoints, worksheets, templates, and optional audio guides for each of the sessions plus a Square terminal for card payments.

Q: Where does the money go from the bag sales?

Back to your school to spend on whatever you and your pupils choose! For Chirnsyde Primary School it was a trip to Stirling Castle and for Notre Dame Primary School it was to help fund a new after-school social club - it’s entirely up to you how the funds are spent.

Q: How do we choose which pupils get to take part?

Some schools have created “Apprentice” style application processes while others have made it an exclusive opportunity for all of the girls in one year group. Ultimately, it’s about selecting the pupils who you believe will get the most out of this opportunity and our team will be on hand at every step of the way if you’d like us to help with selection.

Q: We’ve got a class of 30 and want to offer it to all of our pupils. Is that allowed?

Absolutely. For the best experience, we recommend teams of up to 15 however you’re welcome to split the class into two teams to include everyone.

Q: We’re a rural school with only a handful of eligible pupils. Is there a minimum number of pupils per team?

There is no minimum for team numbers. We’ve delivered this project with teams of 2 and the results have been just as impressive as with teams of 15. We’ll be there to support your budding entrepreneurs at every step of the way.

Q: What happens if we can’t sell all 30 bags? Will we be charged for taking part?

No. If for whatever reason your team is unable to sell all 30 bags during their launch we will step in to help you sell them. We will make it our mission to either sell them out via our website or connect you with a local outlet - for example, a shop, university or even an Arts & Crafts festival - to help you sell them.
